knit stuffs! whooo.
ok so i casted on this sock last sunday... it's the 2nd purple jaywalker in my beloved lorna laces yarn! wee! i casted on about 3 times and then ripped it out about that much too. realized that i am knitty stupid on a daily basis. i'm not getting into it but just know it's about ribbing. stupid ribbing, i dont like you either!
i knit a few inches and then amy conned me in to starting another sock. after casting on so many times, i agreed that i needed some instant gratification and nothing does that like a zen sock in dk weight yarns. she even picked out the yarn and everything! she found it in my stash and i would have never thought to use it for socks!
this is plymouth yarn dreambaby dk yarn. it is light purple and light blue. it's an acrylic microfiber... i think it feels like my couch. LOL but it's soft but sturdy and they fit good. cast on of 54 stitches. it just needs a buddy!
so there ya go! the purple/blue sock only too 2.5 days to complete! pretty good if you ask me! now back to the purple jaywalker grindstone! :D
I GOT A PRESENT FROM MY AYA!!!! I GOT A PRESENT!!!! ITS SOCKS!!! PRETTY PRETTY SOCKS!!!!
these socks make up for alot of things lately... how i havent gotten any of my THREE yarn orders in 2 weeks... how i knitted myself some alpaca socks and cant wear them because they are so.freaking. hot. and how i am waiting on my very own signed book from the yarn harlot and another present from my favorite jennifer. all that i was looking for in the mail for days and then SURPRISE! SOCKS!!
i cant believe that she was holding back on me!!! i KNEW you were doing secret knitting!! i even told jenN that i thought you were doing secret knitting!!!
arent they PRETTY!!!!??
omg. it focused! my camera focused!!!!

thank you so much, aya! you are the bestest ever!!! i love them so much... srsly. love. deeply and alot.
also on the agenda... cable twist socks... i know some people want to see these too! i am really really liking them.
note for ss: i did 3 decrease rows (alternatd with knit rows) after 2 repeats of picking up stitches after the heel.
this is the bottom in the stockingnette... i love how it's looking so much that i almost want to rip it all out and just do a zen sock! doesnt it look cool? that extra yarn hanging off is just my lifelines. :D
wow, this is like 3 posts in a freaking week over here!! i'm on a roll!
i'm knitting new socks! it's the cable twists pattern from hello yarn. it calls for worsted yarn and i am using regular sock yarn... so i casted on 63 sts (70 was too much) and am about to start the 3rd repeat. anyways! here it is!
i like it alot... i like the yarn too. all i am saying is that it better damn well stay up after i do all this work!
incase you werent paying attention, i am knitting a baby sweater for a friend's new baby! he was born on my birthday! it's the daisy sweater from knitty.com. last night i was up til midnight, hooking it all together.... so now it's all one piece and i have about 2 inches done on the hood.
i put my foot in for scale. the sleeves are attached at the top, by about 9 sts each. otherwise, i have to sew in the rest of the sleeves. which i think i am going to do tomorrow... outside in the daylight so i can see good and try not to make a mess of it. you can see where i started the hood...it has about 4 rows of seed stitch separating it from the body. btw, it's supposedly sized for a 1 year old.... but it seems big to me... which i haven't seen a 1 year old in a long time so i might not know anything.

close up of the sleeve

the back. you can see where i have to sew up the sleeves better here.

and the seed stitch band going up the front and around the bottom keeps wanting to roll up. and it's driving me crazy. what will drive me even more crazy is thinking after i send this sweater off to baby nate, how it will keep rolling up and how kelly would keep trying to straighten her baby's sweater out. and just thinking about that would drive me insane... it just would.... so my solution and it's really actually very popular in the knitty world is to back the button band with grosgrain ribbon. i have been looking for ribbon for a couple of days and finally found some that i liked.... alot. and it matches. i couldn't get a good picture of it so i scanned it. i plan to line the button bands with it... and probably around the waist.... i havent decided if i should go up the hood or not... i will decide when i get it done. i wont put it around the sleeves... they aren't very rolly and i think it might be too rough around a baby's hands.
anyways! ribbon!

oh! and what is this? a sock! when did i knit that!?

it's 100% alpaca yarn. i think i made the foot part a tad too short... but i think it will be ok. i have been knitting this for a long time... been keeping it my purse and just get it out when i have to wait or other random times. i finished it up today... and i know that not many people understand this but, i am getting pretty kick ass at some kitchener stitching. i actually enjoy it. i know, i am crazy.
the are so soft.

and i wanted to share how much i clashed today:

hey amies,
is there flowers growing where you live???? i wasn't sure, just thought i'd ask!! *evil grin*
ok ok... on to what you are really here for!! the pedicure jaywalkers! well... jaywalker. I was working on the 2nd one... doing the ribbing and one my my large butted boys sat on my dpn... dont know if it was derek or the dog, but as derek said, "the toothpick broke" :
so here is the jaywalker photoshoot!
so! what do you think??! i might knit me some toe-less socks at some point... i did a tight bind off because i didnt want it rolling up under her foot. but they are amazingly comfortable! i still need to weave in the ends
tonight i am going to watch my boyfriend play some pick up ice hockey... so that's a good 3 hours of knitting time, wonder how much i can get done on that other jaywalker! must take a trip to joann's for more size 1 dpns first!!
well i am florida now... have been for a week... have been job hunting like it's going out of style. need job now! i have been knitting a bit... i didn't knit at all on the 10 hour drive down here... crazy huh?? i could have, but i just didn't want to... slept some, and just looked out the windows. it was quite an ordeal tho... with they uhaul and towing my car. i was so ready for that weekend to be over!! :D
i do have progress on my jaywalker tho! and i wanted to show you all a picture!! I took this yesterday outside our new apt... there was 2 neighborwomen out there and i ended up getting a little embarassed when one asked what i was taking a picture of. how do you explain why you have half of a sock on your stoop and you are photgraphing it??
but here it is... there is actually a bit more on it now, i knitted on the couch last night while watching hockey with derek. i am almost done with the foot decrease. it's moving right along!
the colors are right on in this picture!!!!!
but there is quite a bit more done on it now. i will try to take more pictures later... i want to try it one and see how much is left. oh and this sock has the BEST picked up stitches that i have EVER picked up on a sock before!! I just keep staring at them :D i hope these fit the recipient!!! *crosses fingers*
