i have decided to grace vox with my presence. *grins* i never think about updating here when i finish something! But here I am... I will post some pictures of some FO's. I guess I just assume everyone could just look at my stuff on ravelry if they realllly wanted too. but alas, i like reading about everyone else's FOs on their blogs too... and ya'll are just like me i bet! so how about some pictures?
i did a test knit for a yarnie... she sent me the yarn and i knitted her some socks. i'll get free yarn when i decide what i want from her store. which reminds me: *stalks etsy store* I was aggravated with all the patterns I came up with for this sock, and finally Amy came to my rescue (AGAIN!) and I went with the cables, yo pattern. it's a really speedy pattern, i do recommend it for everyone! It's in Sensational Knitted Socks book.
the yarn didnt really do what i wanted, but eh, what can ya do? yarn has a mind of it's own sometimes! I will knit this pattern again for myself sometime.
Hmmm, what else have I finished lately? I made Derek some thick wool socks to wear when he hunts... they took me all winter to make. Ha, oh well! I knitted them toe up so that they'd fit him.
let me see if there is anything else in the flickr album...
oh those are my new shoes... i LOVE them!
And it snowed here the other week or so...and I finally got a good snow picture after messing around with all the settings on my camera... it was snowing soooo much when i took this.
it's Hill Country yarns and I love it... i love the colors and it's soft and fuffy. it's just great to work with! I cant wait to have the 2nd one done too!
i also have this lacy scarf dealio on the needles.... i saw this pattern (omo scarf) on ravelry and it was so pretty in some cashmere yarn.... but the only DK wgt yarn I had is this pink berroco (cotton) so I went with it...it's not my favorite thing... but it's not for me anyways. I have quite a bit more done on it since this picture was taking...almost thru the first skein. i really suggest you look at the patter in other yarns. maybe blocking this will help some too. HAHA, and if you notice, I was using pretty bamboo needles, that I got for free, on it... but dang! SO SLOW! I have since switched to my knitpicks circs and it's zooming along now.
here is a funky picture of me and derek at the arch, while amy was here. i think at this angle, everyone has several chins! LOL
Hmmm... the purple Hill Country yarn up there, Amy got me for my bday/xmas... but she also got me this beautiful STR yarn too... it's so pretty! Hopefully I can find a pattern to do it justice!
me and my aya, while she was here visiting! I MISS YOU COME BACK RIGHT NOW!
OK! that's it... that's enough! See ya in another month! ;)
i made a sweater for a baby named nate. he shares my birthday.
started: well it was after right after he was born (jan. 23) i think. :)
ended: well crap, i cant remember that either. took about 2 weeks to knit and another 1 week to sew in the ribbon.
yarn: caron, some tweedy yarn.... i bought four skayns and this only used about 2.75.
needles: size us7
pattern: daisy sweater, the manly verson with a hood. cant be knitting a sweater without a hood!!
what else?: i hand sewed the ribbon all around it. i love that ribbon. also, kitchenered the hood. yeah baby.
things i never want to remember: buttonholes from hell (which means: kelly do not stare at the button holes. and DO NOT let your gramma look at the sweater too closely. she will see all my imperfections:))

inside out:

around the bottom:

the finished hood:

i sewed up the sleeves:

And if you havent figure it out yet.... with knitting, i just never know when to leave well enough alone. that and i dont want to see any green yarn for a while!! so i had to use up the last skayn of yarn. so i give to little nate the cutest hat ever knitted on the face of the earth. you may ooh and ahh now. hell, i even surprise myself at the the things i can do by tying some string into knots!

and you can flip up the rim of the hat and it shows off the earflaps better... i thought that it might help if there is sizing issues (which hopefull there will be none...it's quite stretchy!)

the top! i love knitting!!!

and this little heart of love is going to baby nate too.

(love how my camera focuses on what is in the background. grrr.)

SO! it's definitely a kninja day around here at chez sparkli!

also on the needles is alpaca zen sock... this is the 2nd sock and it's almost done! yay!

maybe i will finish that sock today... today is a yarn travesty... the yarn i ordered friday night, i accidently sent to my address in TN... *CRIES* so it will be forwarded to me but it will just take extra long time. but derek should be on his way home for left over speghetti lunch. Then i am going to clean the heck out of our apartment. And then maybe a nap.... then some knitting on the sock. And then i am not sure what we will do.... i think disney (magic kingdom) tomorrow, since derek is off fridays and i am now jobless too. might as well take advantage of it.
i have called and yelled at the temp agency and she is supposed to be calling me back after she talks to them. i might be getting my old job back...wont know til monday tho. so i am not going to worry about it til then. next entry will contain pictures of us going to the race...
ok! ok! knitty pictures.
boy, have i missed knitting! i have been knitting the blue alpaca sock on my lunch break at work but that's just 15 min. at the most. then yesterday i got about 3/4ths the way thru the heel flap on the way to MOSI... so it's coming along. but otherwise all my "would be" knitting time has been going to hand sewing tiny ass stitches to hold the ribbon on my baby sweater. time consuming, my poops!
but i offered up pictures and then took the offer back and got reprimanded for that little trick... so here are pictures of it... mostly all finished. it still needs buttons sewn on... the ones i picked out for it ended up being way too big. but i just got back from walmart and picked out new ones...
onward pictures, ho!
whole thing... totally done.
why the heck not? here it is inside out... you can see where all the ribbon goes. you cant see them here, nor can my crappy camera capture them... but imagine... TEENY STITCHES!
oh wait! you CAN see the teeny stitches!! (btw, color TOTALLY off here... but dang if it IS in focus!)
here's the hood.... i kitchie stitched ALLLLLL that.... it was like 55 sts on each needle. ahem. i will accept my award now. I think the reason you can see a seam tho is because i tighten it up TOO tight. OH WELL. lol
the raglan seams.... i jacked them up goooooood the first time i was starting to stitch them up. but i was seaming from the purl side... oh well... cant remember EVERYthing... that's why we keep the books around. :D
i labled this one as being the true color... but the more i look at it...it's too blue ... now i think that the first pic is the closest to the real color.... just imagine hunter green... that's what it is.
and this is a bad scan of the buttons i just picked up.... they dont do them any justice. damn!
i'm leaning toward the bottom buttons.... but really it will be which ever fits thru the button holes.
ok... there you have it... how cute is it?? i have a skien and a bit of another left over... i think i am going to knit up a baby hat to send with it.... because i dont want this yarn to be hanging around. however i do have left over ribbon. i really liked it alot.
incase you werent paying attention, i am knitting a baby sweater for a friend's new baby! he was born on my birthday! it's the daisy sweater from knitty.com. last night i was up til midnight, hooking it all together.... so now it's all one piece and i have about 2 inches done on the hood.
i put my foot in for scale. the sleeves are attached at the top, by about 9 sts each. otherwise, i have to sew in the rest of the sleeves. which i think i am going to do tomorrow... outside in the daylight so i can see good and try not to make a mess of it. you can see where i started the hood...it has about 4 rows of seed stitch separating it from the body. btw, it's supposedly sized for a 1 year old.... but it seems big to me... which i haven't seen a 1 year old in a long time so i might not know anything.

close up of the sleeve

the back. you can see where i have to sew up the sleeves better here.

and the seed stitch band going up the front and around the bottom keeps wanting to roll up. and it's driving me crazy. what will drive me even more crazy is thinking after i send this sweater off to baby nate, how it will keep rolling up and how kelly would keep trying to straighten her baby's sweater out. and just thinking about that would drive me insane... it just would.... so my solution and it's really actually very popular in the knitty world is to back the button band with grosgrain ribbon. i have been looking for ribbon for a couple of days and finally found some that i liked.... alot. and it matches. i couldn't get a good picture of it so i scanned it. i plan to line the button bands with it... and probably around the waist.... i havent decided if i should go up the hood or not... i will decide when i get it done. i wont put it around the sleeves... they aren't very rolly and i think it might be too rough around a baby's hands.
anyways! ribbon!

oh! and what is this? a sock! when did i knit that!?

it's 100% alpaca yarn. i think i made the foot part a tad too short... but i think it will be ok. i have been knitting this for a long time... been keeping it my purse and just get it out when i have to wait or other random times. i finished it up today... and i know that not many people understand this but, i am getting pretty kick ass at some kitchener stitching. i actually enjoy it. i know, i am crazy.
the are so soft.

and i wanted to share how much i clashed today:

i guess i should update this thing!!
i finally finished the pair of pedicure jaywalkers and sent them off to jeNN so i started a baby sweater for a friend of mine. i promised her a baby sweater if she gave birth to that baby on my birthday (jan. 23) and danged if she didn't!! so baby sweater for a cute little boy named nathan.
however i have never really knitted a garment before... not where you do the sleeves and everything all seperately, so of course i am stuck! it's the daisy sweater on knitty.com. here it is as it stands now:
i also have half of a sleeve done too... but i got stuck on the shaping of the left front. i emailed the yarn harlot about it but i guess she takes the weekends off ... which is totally fine... i just took the needles out of it and started the sleeve. then today i got bored of the sleeve and took the same needles back out of that and started a new project!
which i cant talk about because it's for amy! so there's another hint! your xmas prezzie is using the only sz 7 needles i own! :D
this is probably closer to the yarn color... maybe a bit darker.
so that's what i am knitting now... well what i am stuck on anyways. hopefully the harlot will email me tomorrow. if she doesn't, i have decided that i will just sew it up and send if off with a gaping hole where the left neck shaping should be. (just kidding!)
